Tristan Dequaire has been in charge of scientific and cultural mediation in astronomy at the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace in Le Bourget since 2021. He manages and runs the optomechanical planetarium, creates and develops mediation tools, and participates in the museum’s exhibition and event promotion activities. At the same time, he has been teaching science at home since 2010, and continuing his research. After researching photostability and the detection of organic matter on Mars in connection with NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory/Curiosity mission, he began a thesis project in the humanities and social sciences, on the origins and technological and geographical evolution of projection planetariums and their impact on the planetarist’s profession, combining the history of science and technology with anthropology. In 2022, he founded the Association d’Astronomie de Courdimanche (A2C) and two lightsaber clubs: the Sport Saber League 95 (SSL 95) and the Académie de Sabre laser de Vauréal (ASL Vauréal).
Space agencies are planning to establish permanent bases on the Moon by the end of the 2020s. On the Moon, it’s -150°C at night and +150°C during the day. How much energy will be needed to support a scientific base of 8 people? What types of energy will be available? How will energy constraints impact exploration strategy? How do these lunar activities foreshadow and help prepare for manned exploration of Mars?
