After completing a dual degree in economics and law at the University of Paris II, Yves Jacquin Depeyre began practicing as a lawyer in 1979. Yves Jacquin Depeyre is an entrepreneur. He is manager of several forestry groups and chairman of the companies Électricité du Soleil du Bassin and Centrale Photovoltaïque de Caudos. He is also Chairman of the family group he founded, Ylliade Groupe, and of the Jacquin Depeyre Foundation. He has created “bio-compatible” solar farms in the family forest.
The photovoltaic industry is the very embodiment of progress, since it offers mankind the means of obtaining the cheapest energy with the least collateral damage. Opposing the development of solar energy is therefore an extreme form of opposition to progress. What I intend to show is the existence of an all-out war in France against the production of cheap solar electricity. Only once this unacknowledged conflict has been brought to light can the possibility of reconciling ecology with progress be envisaged. To achieve this, we need to open our eyes to the hidden economic stakes of the situation, and make the voice of reason heard.
