Kévin Jean is a senior lecturer (HDR) at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, in the MESuRS team (Modélisation, Epidémiologie et Surveillance des Risques Sanitaires), and a research associate at Imperial College London. He teaches epidemiology and risk assessment in public health and occupational health training courses. In his research activities, he combines the tools of epidemiology and mathematical modelling to assess prevention strategies in the fields of infectious diseases (HIV, yellow fever, Covid-19), work-related diseases (musculoskeletal disorders) and the health implications of climate policies.

Conference: How do health issues guide energy transition choices?

In addition to climate objectives, energy transition policies and efforts to achieve carbon neutrality could bring significant health benefits. Indeed, climate action in the fields of transport, agriculture, construction and industry could result in improved air and housing quality, healthier diets and increased physical activity. Available scientific findings in this area suggest that the scale of these health co-benefits to the energy transition depends largely on the trajectories and carbon neutrality options chosen. In this presentation, we will show how taking into account the public health dimension can shed original light on the debates surrounding collective choices concerning carbon neutrality trajectories.
