Following a Master’s degree in renewable energies at PSL University and a year’s experience in eco-design consulting, Rachna Bhoonah began her thesis with the Ecodesign and Building Thermics team at MINES ParisTech. She is interested in the life cycle assessment (LCA) of buildings, and in particular in the impact of indoor air quality (IAQ) on human health. Indeed, there are many potentially toxic substances emitted by furniture, coatings and cleaning products. The idea is therefore to opt for less harmful materials and products, and to design optimal ventilation to evacuate pollutants, thus reducing the impact. To this end, she is working on a design tool that would enable IAQ to be taken into account in the building’s LCA.
