Conference: How to express emotions through color?

Our everyday perception of the world is based on the colorful, dynamic energy of light. In artistic creation, painters have seized on color as a privileged expressive instrument, charged with emotional resources and psychic, spiritual and symbolic resonance. From Goethe’s visionary Treatise on Color, published in 1810, to the dazzling abstract canvases of Mark Rothko, this lecture traces the advent of pictorial color as vital, human and universal energy.
