Conference: How can light be used to measure energy?

The production of light requires energy, and light itself is, by definition, a fabulous energy transport system. This brief presentation will illustrate just a few of the many ways in which light can be used to create and measure energy. In other words, how to make the most of light to measure, without contact, physical parameters such as the speed or displacement of particles, for example. From infrared spectroscopy to laser interferometry and 3D scanning microscopy, the aim of this talk is to present simple industrial and academic case studies using optical measurement systems manufactured by Polytec. Examples range from a tiny flying bee to a giant airplane, or a simple watch to make invisible energy visible.
