Forged in poetic élan at the start of a twentieth century fascinated by energy, Annunziata’s tenth Muse, Energèia, was to preside over the radical transformation of Man and the world, thanks to a new art born of the technological domination of nature and the prophetic vision of daring artists not averse to combining artistic and political action. One hundred years on, when energy governs every aspect of our lives and threatens our very survival, can artists be the instigators of an increasingly urgent energy paradigm shift? A priori powerless to save the bees or prevent the rising waters, can they, by reconnecting with the totalizing Annunzian energy, bring “imagination to power” to preserve the world by changing it? In short, we’ll explore energy’s capacity to inspire a new activism that’s artistic, ecological, popular, virtuous and, above all, victorious.
