R. Benvenuto Gaïotti

Benvenuto studied music in Paris at the Conservatoire. He studied trumpet with Tony Russo, jazz arranging with Pierre Bertrand and classical composition with Jean-Michel Bardès. He developed his experience as a musician, notably in jazz big bands. Benvenuto, influenced by the playing of Miles Davis and the urban sounds of hip-hop, created his group Funkwalker, exploring New Funk, a blend of jazz and electronic music. He composed “Fuckwalker” in 2014 and “Are you Funkwalker?” in 2017. Benvenuto collaborates with the band TIM, Rock Noise music where he mixes his trumpet with guitar distortions. He recorded “The Room” in 2004 and “The meadow under the Golden Sun” in 2013. In 2017, Benvenuto composed “Nomad Spirits” and in 2018, the music for the theatrical creation “Enquête”. In 2019, with photographer Nicolas Billion and guitarist Emmanuel Boeuf, he composed “Obsolescence”, exploring a poetic rock universe. Benvenuto takes part in an electronic composition workshop organized by artist Miqi O and joins his beatmakers collective “La Boocle”. Since 2019, beatmaker Benvenuto has been developing his “Benvenuto Electrojazz” project. Since 2022, he has been producing “Lost in the night”.

Performance: Farce and the power of Art in action

Painter Ivan Sigg and musician Benvenuto Electrojazz join forces to combine contemporary painting, jazz and electro music in an experiment/performance. Their dialogue on the big screen reinvents “image music”. Before our very eyes, electro music conjures up an ocean of bass, in which the song of the amplified trumpet sculpts waves of powerful emotion. Immediately, the digital paintings become energized and rise in power, like the voices of the choir, giving the music color and form. Symbiosis! The whole ensemble comes alive and dances from one side of the stage to the other.
