Conference: Does statistical modelling shed light on the world of energy?

Extreme weather events such as storms, heat waves or periods of intense cold have a significant impact on energy demand. By anticipating these events, energy suppliers can better plan and adjust their production to meet increased demand. For example, during heat waves, accurate forecasts enable additional capacity to be mobilized to meet growing demand for air conditioning. Similarly, in the event of intense cold, forecasting heating requirements helps to ensure an adequate supply. Predicting extreme events also helps to optimize energy activities. Companies can adjust their demand management, energy storage and resource allocation strategies in line with weather forecasts. This minimizes coûts and improves energy efficiency. Drawing on mathematics, statistical modeling offers powerful tools for making informed energy decisions, promoting environmental sustainability and optimizing our use of resources. In this talk, we will provide an overview of current issues in statistical modeling in the field of energy.
