Julien Brechet

Born in Lyon in 1979, Julien Brechet studied music at the Conservatories of Lyon and Cergy Pontoise. He completed his training at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva, where in 2006 he obtained a Soloist Diploma, a Teaching Diploma and a Special Prize (Raymond Weil), awarded to the most deserving student in the wind instrument classes. A curious musician eager for new knowledge, he trained in jazz at the Bourgoin-Jallieu Conservatory in the classes of L. Richard, E. Téruel, and M. Vallognes. Winner of numerous international prizes, his eclecticism led him to found the Duo Khiros in 2005 with pianist Laure Grundmann, with whom he performed at various festivals (Fermo and Imola in Italy in 2005, Nuits Musicales de Corps in 2007 and 2013, Festival du Souffle in 2015, etc.). He joined the MadSax Quartet in 2006 and the Ellipsos Quartet in 2010. His passion for martial arts and his work on saxophonist posture led him to practice Tai Chi Chuan, which he applies
in his saxophone teaching at the CRC in Ste Foy Les Lyon and every summer at the Ellipsos Academy.
