Charles Fort has been a doctoral student in Lignocellulosic Materials Engineering at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières since 2020. There, he devotes his efforts to projects focused on environmental preservation and health. At the heart of his work is a major project in partnership with industrialist Kruger, aimed at revolutionizing the agri-food industry through the creation of antibacterial packaging. Drawing on the properties of bacteriophages, viruses that specifically target bacteria, Charles aims to reduce the use of harmful preservatives in food, offering a promising solution for healthier, environmentally-friendly food. Charles is distinguished by his commitment to the scientific community. He has played a key role in organizing several conferences, such as the Colloque étudiant sur la bioéconomie québécoise in 2023. In March 2024, he joined the dynamic team at Innofibre, a college technology transfer center specializing in cellulose product innovation. Here, he puts his expertise into practice by developing automated coating spray techniques. This innovative work, carried out on thermo-molded paper packaging, opens up new prospects in the field of clean, sustainable packaging, positioning Charles as a key player in the ecological transition.
