Alexandre Lemerle holds a PhD in solar astrophysics from the Physics Department of Université de Montréal and an MSc in planetary physics from the Earth and Planetary Sciences Department of McGill University. He is a professor of physics at Collège de Bois-de-Boulogne and a visiting researcher at Université de Montréal’s Groupe de recherche en physique solaire. Since 2019, he has held a research grant from the FRQNT, enabling him to pursue his research at a collegiate institution. He specializes in numerical modeling of the solar dynamo, the Sun’s magnetic activity cycle. His current work focuses on the study of the dynamic feedback of the magnetic field on flows in the solar convective zone, including the resulting energy balances, and on models for predicting solar activity over a ten-year horizon. He is particularly interested in popularizing astrophysical phenomena for young people in schools, especially in the context of the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.
