A specialist in spatial representation, Jacques Desbiens has been applying an experimental approach to his research and creations for over 30 years, using drawing, optics, computer graphics and synthetic holography to conceive, experiment with and analyze the structure of images and their modes of representation of space and time. Her work has been the subject of publications, exhibitions in several countries, a PhD in Études et Pratiques des Arts (UQAM, 2012), and has been recognized by the Nick Phillips Award for Innovation in Holography (International Symposium on Display Holography, Shenzhen, China, 2009). At the crossroads of the scientific and the artistic, the constructed and the visually chaotic, confronted with optical and geometric approaches, his images demand active observation and displacement. Freed from egocentric geometry, the gaze wanders.
