The energy sector has undergone profound transformations over the past 20 years: the shale oil revolution and the rise of the United States; the breakthrough of global gas trading; the drastic fall in the price of renewable energies; China’s increasing dependence on energy imports, at the same time as it is becoming the world leader in decarbonized energy supply chains. The strategic importance of minerals for the transition. All these changes are bringing about a profound reconfiguration of global political and economic relations, which are already having a major impact on international politics, and concrete impacts for citizens.
