Professor Emeritus of Biophysics

Henri Atlan is Professor Emeritus of Biophysics, former head of department at the Hôtel-Dieu Hospital in Paris and Director of the Human Biology Research Center at Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem. He is also honorary director of studies at the EHESS in philosophy of biology. Henri Atlan was a member of the National Consultative Ethics Committee for Life and Health Sciences between 1983 and 2000. He is one of the thinkers of self-organization, among the first to denounce the "genetic whole".
